WHAT WE DO

Adjusting Yoga poseVinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa classes are suitable for everyone, from beginners to advanced yogis! This class is dynamic and energetic, with an emphasis on following the breath as we flow from one pose to the next to the sounds of great music! Many options are given to suit every individual, including arm balances, inversions, and other advanced poses for those who want a challenge. Every body is different and so we take great care to provide options for everyone and make this experience enjoyable. The Vinyasa Yoga instructors will always be mindful and hold space for you in the way that it’s suitable for all. Proper alignment is taught to keep everyone safe, and participants are always invited to request poses, or ask for help at any time. We also provide a short massage at the end of the class during Savasana….

Yoga sessionYin Yoga

Chill, and be still. Yin yoga is a cooling practice that accesses our deeper, connective tissues – tendons, ligaments, bones, and joints. Health and vitality are restored into these tissues as students hold simple poses on the ground for long duration of time. Physically, yin is an excellent practice for building flexibility, and is a great balance for more dynamic yoga such as Vinyasa, or for other energetic activities. Yin yoga is even better for our minds than it is for our bodies; this still, meditative practice helps develop a deep sense of calm and relieves stress. It also teaches us to soften into tension, relaxing both body and mind. Our yin classes incorporate traditional yin postures as well as pranayama (breathing exercises), seated mediation, and myofascial release (self-massage techniques).

Meditation and Mindfulness

“Meditation” and “mindfulness” are buzzwords these days for good reason. Yogis have been practicing dhyana (meditation) for millennia. Meditation is a habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect or manage your thoughts. You can use it to increase awareness of yourself and your surroundings. Many people think of it as a way to reduce stress and develop concentration.

People also use the practice to develop other beneficial habits and feelings, such as a positive mood and outlook, self-discipline, healthy sleep patterns and even increased pain tolerance. We will be guiding you through meditation but also teaching you how to start your own practice of meditation after the yoga retreat is finished and you go back to you daily routine.
